Today, no woman can imagine a wardrobe without trousers, and yet a hundred years ago they were reserved exclusively for men. It was not until the 1920s, when women's emancipation contributed to a series of changes in customs, that trousers became a permanent fixture in women's wardrobes. And although the history of women's trousers, compared to dresses or skirts, is short, the multitude of their types can be confusing.
Depending on the occasion, figure or our character, we can reach for a different model every time and choose from dozens of interesting styles and materials. Trousers can be worn on their own or as part of a jumpsuit, or a two- or three-piece suit. They are fantastic because we always feel free and comfortable in them. They are also a great base for creating a comfortable, original, sometimes chic, sometimes crazy, but always fashionable style.
We have elegant trousers, including those ironed into creases, perfect for official meetings or celebrations. We have sweatpants, sports trousers, for fitness: looser cotton or fitted leggings made of, for example, Lycra. We have a whole range of casual trousers, perfect for work, meetings with friends, shopping, going to the cinema, for lunch, etc.
Depending on the fabric used, we have, for example, fabric chinos perfect for semi-formal occasions and always fashionable and sexy leather trousers. There are also jeans loved by everyone, the classic blue ones or fashionable for a dozen or so seasons, made of washed denim with abrasions and holes.
We have cigarette pants, skinny jeans, Aladdin pants, bell-bottoms, or culottes. There are short and long pants. Shorts, shorts below the knee, capri pants, 3/4 or 7/8 length, ankle-length, and even covering shoes. We have a choice of pants with a low waist, i.e. hipsters, with a medium or high waist.
As you can see, when it comes to trousers, there is no question of boredom. Trousers can be worn to work in the garden or to a wedding. On a bike or to the theatre. They are great when we sit at home with a book or plan to go to a club. They are worn by women seen on the streets every day, but also by heads of state, corporate bosses or even Duchess Kate. They go with blouses, shirts, sweatshirts, T-shirts, sweaters or bikinis. Sandals, high heels, boots, cowboy boots or barefoot. They are one of the most universal parts of the wardrobe. Always fashionable and always comfortable.
